Founded by artists in 1984, the Vermont Studio Center is the largest international artists' and writers' Residency Program in the United States, hosting 50 visual artists and writers each month from across the country and around the world.
The Studio Center provides 4-12 week studio residencies on an historic 30-building campus along the Gihon River in Johnson, Vermont.
The Vermont Studio Center hosts 50 artists and writers each month who participate in 4 to 12 week independent studio Residencies. VSC Residents represent a mix of mediums, cultures, experience, and ages, for a diverse and vibrant community.
Residencies
The Vermont Studio Center offers:
- 2- to 12-week studio Residencies for 50 artists and writers per month (24 painters/ mixed-media, 12 sculptors/mixed-media, 2 printmakers, 2 photographers, and 12 writers)
- Private studio space appropriate to the medium (open 24 hours a day)
- Simple, private rooms and excellent food
- Opportunity for focused, independent work
- A large and diverse creative community
- Opportunities to share work: open studio evenings, slide presentations, and readings
Fellowships
VSC awards a number of Full Fellowships for 4-week residencies throughout the year. Open to all artists and writers, the Full Fellowship application deadlines are February 15th, June 15th, and October 1st. In addition to VSC Full Fellowships, a variety of special fellowships are also available for full or partial funding.
